1. What’s New In Version 26

Version 26 of the Evergreen Audio metering tools gives you the control to build the metering system your room and your workflow require.

The Meter Editor lets you design the meter itself, expanding beyond the default set with custom layout, colors, scale, and ballistics. Dedicated Meter Windows let you decide where each meter physically lives. Screening Mode and an updated Counter Display extend that control to timecode and reel-based playback, with LTC and HUI joining MTC as sources. The release also adds new VU and Dorrough meters and Apple AU plugin support.

2. New Meter Types

Version 26 adds three new Dorrough meters to the Massive Meter Pro and Meter Bridge Pro: Dorrough Model 40, Dorrough Model 280, and Dorrough Model 380, alongside the existing Dorrough type.

Version 26 adds an analog VU meter alongside the existing Digital VU meter. The 0 VU, dBFS setting sets the dBFS value that 0 VU corresponds to, with a default of −14 dBFS, so both match your room’s calibration.

3. Meter Editor

The Meter Editor is a new Meter Bridge Pro window for creating and customizing meter styles, layouts, and ballistics. The meters designed in the Meter Bridge Pro’s Meter Editor can be used in the Massive Meter Pro plugin, providing the same meter designs across the system.

The Layout view controls the heights of meter labels, channel labels, and meter values, along with the clip and signal present indicators, and lets you set padding independently for each meter bar. Layouts can be built separately for each channel format, so mono, stereo, 5.1, and immersive meters can each have their own design. Selecting Custom from the Meter Type popup enables custom ballistics, where you enter the exact decay and integration (attack) times your workflow calls for.

The Color view lets you build custom meter colors with your own color break positions, adding or removing breaks and setting each one to a value between 0 and −100 dB. The Scaling view lets you place scale points anywhere in that same range, and gives each point both a dB value and a separate display value. Because the two are independent, you can build custom K-System Metering style scales with positive display values, or put text in place of a number where that suits the workflow.

Layouts, colors, and scales are saved as independent files in the Layout, Color, and Scale folders inside Meter Bridge Pro Settings, so they can be mixed and matched freely rather than locked together as a single preset.

4. Meter Windows

The Meter Bridge Pro can now place specific meters into their own dedicated windows. This enables workflows that were not previously possible: large meters on dedicated displays, meters placed on or around the console, or meters at the front of a stage beneath the projection screen.

Meter Windows are created, opened, closed, and deleted from the Meter Window submenu under the Windows menu, and you can create as many as you need with any combination of meters. The New Meter Window command opens a dialog where you select the System and the Plugin/Meter to display. After the window exists, moving the mouse over its upper right corner reveals a gear icon for changing that selection.

5. Counter Display and Advanced Configuration

The updated Counter Display (previously the Timecode Display) has been extended with capabilities to support more workflows and customizations.

In addition to MIDI Timecode (MTC), the Counter now reads longitudinal timecode (LTC) and Mackie HUI.

The Counter can display either Timecode or Feet+Frames, and the values/units displayed for each are set independently, so you control exactly what the viewer sees. A Current Timecode and Desired Feet+Frames setting establishes the synchronization point between the two. Font and color are both selectable so the Counter can be matched to your studio’s needs.

6. Screening Mode

Screening Mode provides a full reel management workflow, allowing the Counter to be customized when playing back reels in a single session. This provides complete control over what time is displayed on your Counter to make note taking and feedback sessions easier.

The Screening Mode editor takes the math work out of setting up reels by providing a simple interface for adding reels, automatically calculating position for each reel, and allowing you to manually edit and override values.

Reels are added with the + button, and each new reel is derived from the times of the previous one. First frame of action, last frame of action, and position can all be edited in either timecode or feet+frames, with standard text editing and paste support.

A Screening Mode file specifies the frame rate, the first frame of action, and the last frame of action of each reel. If a position has been customized, that value is also stored in the Screening Mode file. Screening Mode files are stored in the Screening Mode folder inside the Meter Bridge Pro Settings folder.

7. Expanded Settings and Customization

Multiple new settings in the application and plugins give finer control over the display.

Show Meter Tick Marks shows or hides the scale display on the left and right of the meters. This reduces clutter, and is particularly useful with the new Dorrough and VU meters, which carry their own scale indicators. Show System Name controls whether the system name appears, simplifying the Meter Bridge Pro view. Behaviors Follow Track Color makes the Massive Meter Pro follow the Pro Tools track color rather than a fixed plugin color.

Record, Mute, Solo, Input Monitor — VCA Track Override is an advanced Massive Meter Pro setting that designates a VCA track sharing the same root name as another track to act as the source for record, mute, solo, and input monitor state. This supports workflows where VCAs control record, mute, solo, and input monitor for groups whose members are metered independently.

Settings files have been reorganized. Audio Device settings, layouts, colors, scales, and Screening Mode files now all live under a single Meter Bridge Pro Settings folder in your Documents folder, each in its own subfolder, which makes moving a complete studio setup between computers straightforward.

8. Audio Units Support

The plugins now ship in the Apple AU format in addition to their existing formats. Massive Meter supports Pro Tools AAX Native, VST3, and AU. The Massive Meter Pro supports Pro Tools AAX DSP and AAX Native, VST3, and AU.

9. Meter Bridge Pro for iOS - Coming Soon

The Meter Bridge Pro iOS application is coming soon, bringing the Meter Bridge Pro to the iPad. It connects to Mini Meter, Massive Meter, and Massive Meter Pro plugins.
